About the Class/Event
Ballroom Dancing Sequence Program for Homeschooled Children in Wake Forest.
Focus Dances:
This season, our program will concentrate on the Cha-Cha-Cha and Samba dance styles. No experience is required. Students will learn the beginner/bronze level syllabus, which includes a fundamental understanding of music, basic syllabus figures, posture, coordination, arm/leg positioning, rhythm, timing, technique, style/characterization, and lead/follow when applicable. Children will have the opportunity to work with peers their age and receive personalized instruction, as our classes are intentionally kept small!
Class Details:
Classes begin Thursday, September 5th 12pm to 1pm, and repeat weekly.
No class September 19th. No class October 31st.
Classes end November 21st for the season.
Class Benefits
- No partner is required.
- Social, Emotional, and Physical Development: Our classes aim to help children develop socially, emotionally, and physically while encouraging confidence.
- Fun and Discipline: While we aim to have fun in class, we also focus on building discipline and encouraging class collaboration and dynamics.
Dress Code
- No jeans.
- Boys: Flexible pants or shorts.
- Girls: Dresses, leggings, or active clothing. Ballet clothes are welcome.
- Shoes: Leather or rubber-soled dance shoes (e.g., ballet slippers, jazz shoes). Socks are permitted if no shoes are available. I recommend finding affordable options on Amazon as children quickly outgrow their shoes. [I can help you find options if needed.]
About the Dance Teacher
Maria has run children's DanceSport programs for over 15 years in Seattle [WA], Orange County [CA], and Brooklyn [NY]. Having competed in International 10-Dance and worked with some of the best coaches in the world, Maria loves to balance the challenging aspects of ballroom dancing with the more relaxed and social elements. She focuses on the confidence and scalability children gain from learning such common dances.
Additional Notes
- Parents are welcome to sit in class.
- There will be a demonstration of learned dances in the last class for all parents. Friends welcome!
- If you wish for your child to take DanceSport more seriously/compete, please speak with Maria to learn more about Student/Teacher lessons and competitions.
I look forward to seeing your kids in class!!!
